Dr Zafar is an internationally renowned global health expert with a proven record of designing and leading evaluations of complex interventions. His major expertise lies in strategizing and leading cross-functional teams to implement and evaluate multi-million dollars health and development projects. Over the past 35 years, Dr Zafar has been working as an expert evaluator both in Bangladesh and abroad, including the UK, EU and other African countries. He has a long experience of initiating and delivering sustained results for high-end organizations across a wide range of public and private establishments around the world.
Dr Zafar has extensively worked with the Government, NGOs (e.g. BRAC, ICDDR, B, IRD, Save the Children), and with the development partners such as WHO, CIDA, ADB, DFID, USAID, Sida and The World Bank. Recently, he worked as an international external reviewer for WHO, USAID, and Sida to evaluate large donor-funded health Programs. He is currently working as a WHO consultant (Team Leader) for evaluating public-private partnership projects and advising the Government in developing policies and guidelines for private sector involvement in the primary health care services.
Dr Zafar is skilled in demonstrating exceptional communication proficiency and making critical decisions during challenging situations. He is an adaptable and transformational leader with an ability to work independently, creating effective presentations, and developing opportunities that further establish organizational goals.
Dr Zafar is a medical doctor educated in the United Kingdom (UK). After obtaining his MBBS degree, he pursued his higher education in the UK. He completed his Masters in Public Health with distinction from the University of Leeds where won the UK’s prestigious award “John Griffith Prize” for academic excellence. He then attained his PhD and Post-Doc from the same University.
