A.K.M. Munir, MBBS, PhD, is a renowned public health innovator, scientist, and development leader with over four decades of experience in medical practice, arsenic mitigation, and integrated human development.

As Managing Partner and CEO, he brings visionary leadership to comprehensive research on sustainable development initiatives that bridge science, technology, and community empowerment. Co-inventor of the internationally acclaimed SONO Arsenic Filter, Dr. Munir has spearheaded projects, transforming lives through access to safe water, healthcare, education, and livelihood support. A recipient of the Grainger Challenge Prize Gold Award by the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, his work has been widely recognized for its impact and integrity.

Along his leadership role in the HDRC, Dr. Munir is actively engaged in many volutnary organizations and health service providing entities. He is the General Secretary of Manob Sakti Unnayan Kendro (MSUK), a non government, non profit voluntary organization, Chairman of SONO Hospital Ltd., Chairman of Genus Pharmaceuticals, Proprietor of Dr. Quashem’s Chambers, Director of SONO Diagnostic Centre Ltd.
